Popham Airfield ride - Sunday 11th August
Join me on a beautiful scenic ride to Popham Airfield for a special Motorcycle Megameet - featuring classic motorcycles of all types and trade stalls selling new and use items. There is a catering village offering food from fish n chips to a hog roast. Tickets available on the day: Adults: £7.00, OAP's: £, 5.00, Children 4-16 £5.00, Under 4's Free.
The airfield itself is a real gem, off the beaten track with a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. You can refuel at the cosy cafe if the catering village is not your choice and there is plenty of outside seating with a great view of the aircraft.
We'll be taking off from Newlands Corner at 10am and flying down to the Hoggs Back cafe to assemble the rest of the Surrey Chapter squadron.
Our flight path will take us along the A287 to Odiham, Upton Grey, Cliddesden and Broadmere before touching down at Popham Airfield.
I'm really looking forward to seeing you all on the day!
Just for fun - here are some Spitfire trivia questions to test your knowledge:
- What did Spitfire pilots use t-scopes for?
- Adolf H flew a Spitfire on many occasions but how?
- What is the legendary bike racer Guy Martin's association with this iconic fighter?
