Sunday 30 July

Dungeness Fish Hut

This will be a spirited 90 mile ride to Dungeness - not a back lane amble. We will be riding up to the national speed limit where conditions allow ie: 70 mph on dual carriageways and indulge in some overtaking whenever safely possible.

So if the weather is iffy it will not go ahead - please check the SCUK Friday evening riders TEXT before setting out.

Leaving from Rykas at 09.30 we'll head south on the A24 and then turn left onto the A272 towards Cowfold. At Cowfold twin roundabouts around 10.15 would be a good place for a ride pass pick up point. Please email me if you intend to meet us there.

We'll follow the A272 and stop after 45 miles at The Butchers Hook cafe,  Burwash Rd, Heathfield, TN21 8RA arriving around 11.00 for a coffee break. This would also be a good meeting up spot or if you can't spare all day a good place from which to return home.

From there riding East another 45 miles on the A272 etc we'll cross the AONB High Weald of Kent, skirt around Camber Sands and have a fishy snack, (non-fishy alternatives available nearby), at the Dungeness Fish Hut, Dungeness Road, Romney Marsh, TN29 9NE. MENU

Fishermans rolls - two fillets of the days catch cooked on the grill and served hot in a bun.
Mexican flatbreads - the days catch dressed in lime, chilli, sour cream and coriander.
Lobster and Crab rolls served throughout the summer.

While eating lunch at the tables outside we can gaze at the sea, the two nuclear power stations, the two light houses or even watch the Dymchurch Railway trains go by.

Afterwards make your own way home or ride together quickly up the B2080, A262 and A21 some 55 miles to the A21/A25/M25 Junction near Westerham then do your own thing.
