Ride To The Wall 2022

Friday 30 September to Sunday 2nd October

This year we will be joining hundreds of other motorcyclists on the ridein to the National Memorial Arboretum.

Registrations open at 19.00 on the 29th April when you may register your intention to ride and/or support the event by making a £10 donation at https://www.rttw.org/index.php. To ride take options 'Start Location: Leicester Forest Services' and choose Surrey Chapter UK as your club at the point of payment.

You will receive a year bar and your name can also be added to the scroll of attendance, recognising the contribution you have made and the pride and respect that you show for the sacrifice made by those with their names on the wall. You may also add a name of your choice to the scroll of remembrance.

As we ride to and from the National Memorial Arboretum towards the end of our regular rideout season this is also a good chance to think about those friends who were members of Surrey Chapter during the last 31 glorious years but who are no longer with us. This includes: Matthew Melly, David Carrick, Jeff Fallon, Carol Dube, Len & Margaret Harvey, Jim & Pat Basson, Steve Hutchinson, Mick Cox, Peter Agent, Robin Moorby and Dave 'Neptune' Phillips.

The National memorial Arboretum is a moving garden of remembrance for people of the UK and includes those such as nurses, firemen, postmen, stillborn children, 9/11 victims, road crash victims as well as soldiers, sailors and airmen who died in service since the 2nd World War; for more info take a look at www.thenma.org.uk

During the day there will be events and live music taking place from 9.30am to 5pm in 4 different locations; Veterans Village, Visitors Centre, Marquees and The Bastion Memorial and possibly some aerial attractions.

We will leave from the Beaconsfield Services, HP9 2SE, on the M40 after lunch at 13.30 on the Friday. We'll take a mixture of Motorway and A roads. We'll stop for tea and coffee on the way and we should arrive at our hotel by 16.30hrs.

You are welcome to ride up later on Friday and join us at the hotel. If you prefer to ride up on the Saturday morning and join us at the Leicester Forest services for the ride in or at the NMA for the day please let me know but please note there will not be an offical SCUK lead ride from Surrey on the Saturday.

Our hotel will be just a few miles from the M1 Leicester Forest Services from where we  will join the ridein leaving at 10.30 on Saturday.  Hotel cost will be about £60 per room per night plus £8 for breakfast.

Following the Service of Remembrance you can return home or come back to the Hotel. On the Sunday before heading home we can visit the site of the Battle Of Bosworth Field where King Richard III was killed before being buried in a car park.

If you hope to attend and want a room for the Friday and/or Saturday night then please complete a booking form available via THIS LINK and send in a deposit of £70.  Should you find after 27 September that you cannot attend you will be liable for the cost of your room if it cannot then be cancelled.

 The RTTW Blessing

May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon the roads behind you.

May you be kept safe through rolling hills, twisting turns, from oil, gravel and dim-witted drivers and, until we meet again, may the blessing of the triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit

Be upon You, and those whom you, love

Now and always

Amen

NB: You remain responsible at all times for the control, safe and legal use of your motorcycle.
