We hope that you will join us for a fascinating and relaxing trip to the beautiful town of Ironbridge nestled in the Shropshire Hills. We plan to be staying at the Best Western Valley Hotel, a charming country hotel with a wide terrace and gardens leading onto the banks of the River Severn. There is ample parking, a spacious bar and the restaurant is excellent with a varied seasonal menu. The hotel is conveniently situated, only a 10 minute stroll of the town, the famous iron bridge and other attractions.
Day one: The leisurely route will take in some fantastic riding roads that will pass through the scenic Berkshire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire countryside, stopping for coffee and lunch before arriving at the hotel around 3.30 pm, giving ample time to settle in before dinner and take a stroll around the town.
Day Two: After breakfast we will visit Blists Hill Victorian Town Museum, which is only 3.8 miles. It is a fascinating living museum reconstructed from period buildings and has a variety of shops, school, café and a fish & chip shop. These all only take “old money”, which you can obtain from the bank on entry. In keeping with the areas heritage there is even a working foundry and many other interesting exhibits.
In the afternoon, we will take a ride out to explore some of the pretty medieval villages on our way to Ludlow, with its castle and picturesque town centre. Alternatively, you can explore Ironbridge at your leisure, visiting the other local museums or whatever your fancy.
Day Three: after breakfast, we will check out and leave for the ride back to Surrey, again following the A & B roads. For those that need to get a wiggle on and prefer to take the motorways, they are welcome to make their own way home.
The hotel is already beginning to fill up. Should you wish to come please let me know ASAP
We do hope that you will join us.
