Many of us consider the consequences of war throughout the year, especially in these troubled times but Remembrance Sunday is a special day when the whole nation focuses its thoughts. This is the centenary of the end of the Great War but we must not forget all those brave men and women of the armed services, from all nations, who have made the ultimate sacrifice in conflicts past and present. We should also spare a thought for the wives, husbands, partners, children, families and friends of those who have lost a loved one.
It is time to pray to your god or just reflect and hope that we can bring an end to the suffering and futility of war.
By popular demand we will be returning to pay our respects with our friends at the Air Forces Memorial, Runnymede. They welcome our presence and enjoy our company. So lets not disappoint our hosts and have a great turnout.
Meet at Newlands Corner at 9am for a prompt 9.15am departure. We will take a leisurely ride avoiding the slippery bits to our second pick up point at Runnymede Pleasure Grounds Café (approx. 10.00am). We will then ride the last couple of miles to the Air Forces Memorial to park up, take our positions at 10.30am and be ready for the service that commences from 10.45am.
After the service at the Air Forces Memorial those who wish to can make a choice of what to do next, you may wish to:-
